The only time I went out was on Thursday to visit Farhana who had given birth to a handsome baby boy. Congrats to you & Yus!! Welcome to parenthood!

I brought along Aneeqa and since we were out, I treated her to her request of fried chicken for lunch and added a bonus treat, ice cream!! Simple things that made her day and mine.

I so wanted to bring both of them out but I knew I would have a problem if both of them had their naps along the way. How to carry both of them?!

Today I asked both of them, was it fun spending time with me? Both said yes, Aneeqa even said, “Mama, you don’t need to go work ok?”

Sigh.. How I wish baby. How I wish.

Fight like there is no tomorrow but is it all worth it?

Its tough but I know that as time passes by, it will get better.

Am I ready for it?

Time spent with the girls are very precious to me. While tweeting about it, it dawn to me what kind of parent I am.

Seriously speaking, I don’t read parenting books or magazines and everything I do is based on how my parents raised me and read on personal experiences from my friend’s blogs.

And from the looks of it, I *think* I am a bochap mom. Whenever the girls are at home, I let them do simply whatever they want: watch tv, draw, colour, sing, dance, play whole day until they are tired and so on. There is no such thing as sitting down to study or make sure you know your ABCs, Colours & numbers at the back of your hand.

When I started to teach Aneeqa to recognise her ABCs, it was tough!!! Her attention span was short and wasn’t able to focus. End up, most of my teaching lessons end up she crying &  me feeling frustrated. Frustrated because some of her peers already know their ABCs and colours and all she knew was to get them all mixed up.

The good thing about tweeting about this was that my dear tweeps gave me advices and encouragement on how to teach her. That’s when it dawn to me that learning should be fun and not be dreadful to the child. That’s when I start to take a step back and let her learn at her own pace and NOT compare her with other kids.

Alhamdulillah, she learnt her ABCs, Numbers & Colours at her own pace. From not knowing them during our PTC in the early half of the year, now she knows. PLUS frm not knowing how to speak English, she can do it though broken but still I’m proud of her!

As for Aneesa, she’s picking up what she learns from her sister and I hope to do the same for her. Let her learn at her own pace. Own time own target.

Other den academics, the girls begin to show their artistic side too.

Aneeqa loves to draw and I might say, her drawings are beautiful. Bear with me on this, which mom wouldn’t praise their own kids?  However, when given an object or picture for her to copy, she would say that she can’t or she don’t know how to draw. But when I leave her to draw freely, that’s when she can come up with all sorts of pictures. I think she draws when she’s inspired.

As for Aneesa, she has the most “lembut” body. She can dance so naturally and don’t look so stiff. Oh yes, she can gelek even in the bathroom while bathing. She simply loves to dance. There are times when she can just gelek at shopping centres if she finds the songs catchy.

And from my previous video, their latest hobby is to sing. I know its off key but it’s music to my ears. Bear with me again on this. :p

Eventhough I see their potential, I’m not going to rush to enroll them in any art classes, drama classes, dance classes, vocal classes YET. If they want when they are slightly older, then I will do so. I don’t want to force them to attend any classes and end up, they hating to do what they love in the first place.

Yes, people might say that the younger they are, the more they can absord/learn but isnt learning a life long process? If they DO have these potential in them, potential tu tak kemane, can always be sharpened when they are older. The only thing that they need is right opportunity and parents’ blessing.

What’s important for me as a parent is to bring them up properly. Properly so that they can differenciate between right & wrong, respect their elders, know their responsibility towards the family and themselves and so on.

To me, if belajar tinggi, gaji tinggi tinggi tapi perangai/akhlak tak rupa mcm orang, who gets the blame? Parents jugak yang kena blame. We can manjakan the girls but when buat salah, punishment tetap kena jugak. Mcm omputih cakap: spare the rod, spoil the child? I rather spoil the rod and spare my kids from future misbehaving. But remember, punishment & child abuse is two separate matters ye?

So for now, the girls can simply enjoy their childhood as they are supposed to before they enter Primary school. That’s when good luck to them and to me.

See? They want to be butterfly princesses for now. Aneeqa ask me if she can fly. I firmly told her that she can’t and the only way to fly is to take an airplane.
